For the past 12 years, the war between Rome and Germany has been continuous. Now, finally, Rome has won the war. Maximus Decimus Meridius is the commander of Rome. The story is based on Maximus, the main character.
Moreover, After winning the war, the king decides to give the kingdom to Maximus. But Maximus decides to spend the rest of his life with his wife and children. The king insists on him and gives him enough time to think about it. However, King has two children: Commodus and Lucilla. Commodus was not happy with the king’s decision and killed him.
On the other side, Maximus decides to take the kingdom. But when he reaches the kingdom, he sees that the king is no more. After seeing the dead body, he sees that the king is murdered. But Commodus takes him hostage and decides to kill him. However, Maximus runs away from the jail and reaches out to his family. He sees that Commodus killed his whole family.
Furthermore, he buried his family and became unconscious. He sees that someone captured him. And yes, that’s true; he was captured by a group of people who capture and sell humans and animals. They sell him to Antonius Proximo, who is a gladiator training. Due to his training, he returns to his king’s area to show his gladiator skills.
Commodus decides to give him gifts and says take off your mask. But Maximus denys and Commodus orders him. He takes off his mask and says he will destroy him like he destroyed his family. Now, Commodus decides to kill him. But Lucilla meets Maximus and tells him she used to love him, and he has to take revenge. At the film’s end, Maximus kills Commodus, and he dies due to injury.
