The All New Yamaha MT-09 IS Launching in October

The Yamaha MT-09 is a sport-naked bike with an 847cc engine. It comes in two petrol variants: STD and Neo Roadster. It is going to launch in Oct 2024 (Tentative). Moreover, the Yamaha MT-09 price in India is estimated to be around 11.50 Lakh.

How is the design?

The Yamaha MT-09 features a muscular fuel tank and a radical design language. Its split alien-inspired twinpod headlamp setup at the front includes LED DRLs and an LED headlamp. A revised seat, a svelte tail section, and a bigger air intake scoop enhance its sporty look. The upright riding position and Night Fluo paint add to the bike’s appeal. The red-finished logo and edgy fuel tank, along with split seats and red-painted alloy wheels, complete the design.

Performance

The MT09’s inline three-cylinder 847cc engine produces a peak torque of 87.5Nm at 8,500rpm and a maximum power of 113.4BHP at 10,000rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox featuring QSS for quicker gear shifts. The bike includes ABS and traction control, integrated with a slipper assist and clutch.

The MT09’s power might not be earth-shattering, but it is respectable for a light heavyweight sport naked bike. Its in-gear acceleration is excellent, thanks to sensible gearing and a good spread of torque for rapid driving from lower rpm.

The Yamaha MT-09 offers impressive ride quality. It features telescopic forks in front suspension and swingarm rear suspension, both with good absorbing power. The mono-shock at the rear and the 41mm inverted fork at the front ensure a smooth ride over potholes and bumps. The upright riding position enhances comfort, making long drives enjoyable.

How comfortable is the Yamaha MT-09?

The riding posture of the Yamaha MT-09 is aggressive yet comfortable, providing an upright riding position. The seat allows easy sliding back. The bike appears nimble, light, and agile, offering unmatched comfort with excellent refinement and throttle response. The well-cushioned split seats can accommodate two adult riders comfortably, though the pillion might feel uncomfortable without a backrest. The bike’s 820mm seat height makes mounting easy.
