Development of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie
The production of Sonic 3 dates back to April 5. 2021. The writers of this gaming movie Pat Casey and Josh Miller decided to bring the third movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog Cinematic Universe in which they wanted to reuse the Doctor Eggman scene from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
However, it was on February 15, 2022, that they made an official announcement. They announced that it will be created at the ViacomCBS Investors Connect day, with the Knuckles.
Surprisingly and sadly, Jim Carrey came up with his retirement in April 2022. He added that he will only return to acting if the script for Sonic 3 will be good. But the two producers remained hopeful and said that the Eggman role would not be replaced by any other actor.
The same year in May, the crew revealed a few major things. First and foremost, they may adapt the plotline of Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Secondly, they revealed that they have contracted a female actor for the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog. Third is the inclusion of Crush 40 and their song “Live and Learn”.

Composer Tom Holkenborg, famously known as Junkie XL, expressed his excitement about the Sonic 3 movie. According to Collider’s report, he has completed his work on this movie. He has been involved in the Sonic cinematic universe since the first series. He has known the director, Jeff Fowler, for a long time as they worked together at Blur Studios.
Tim Miller and Tom Holkenborg co-founded Blur Studios. In 2016, Holkenborg’s skill of merging musical elements with Miller’s directions was seen in their first project, The ‘Deadpool‘. This gained wide popularity and then they worked on ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ three years after their first movie. These projects introduced Holkenborg to Jeff Fowler, the director of the Sonic movie.
